Ombre nails with lace glitter by @chalkboardnails

I recently received a package of some current Color Club shades. As I pulled the bottles out of the box, fate took control and lined up four of the shades from lightest to darkest. They looked gorgeous in an ombre together, and I had to oblige the universe's wishes.

Of course, I was still missing a fifth shade, and while I was searching for the perfect polish, I figured it couldn't hurt to add some glitter, either.

So, the four fated Color Clubs that I was destined to use are:
Color Club Blank Canvas (white)
Color Club Barely There (light tan)
Color Club Get a Mauve On It (mauve)
Color Club Midnight Mulberry (plum)

Then, I grabbed A England Elaine for the thumb, and added a layer of Sally Hansen Eyelet from the Luxe Lace line on all the nails. The glitter density was good, but I ended up with a lot of bubbles on the nails. Not sure what happened there.

I haven't done an ombre in a while, but I totally should wear them more often. They're really gorgeous and chic, especially in shades of nudes/neutrals like this. Big thanks to the universe and to Color Club for setting me up to hit one out of the ombre park (IMO)!

Third holo post in a row, and this time a comparison between Miss Bliss and Halo-Graphic. Actually thought that I had showed them on their own on the blog but seems like I haven't. XD

Anyhow. As you know Color Club 2012 came out with their first Halo Hues collection with the six polishes Halo-Graphic, Cloud Nine, Harp On It, Blue Heaven, Cherubic and Angel Kiss.
2013 Color Club came out with 6 more shades for Halo Hues which included Miss Bliss, Beyond, Eternal Beauty, Over The Moon, Cosmic Fate and Kismet.

To make a simple comparison between the collections, 2013 Halo Hues seemed more colorful and perhaps 2012 Halo Hues where slightly more holographic.

My Miss Bliss and Halo-Graphic are super similar. Miss Bliss seems slightly more pink, maybe more warm toned and Halo-Graphic is less pink and more cold toned. I also remember that I imagined my self that Halo-Graphic was slightly more holographic, maybe.. But just looking at them you wouldn't know, they look very close.

Also added Over The Moon to the underside of my nails. Which just was a good idea in theory. Mostly it just look grayish blue and therefore looked like dirty metallic. This shot it looked cool though.
Thoughts? I have seen swatches where I imagine that there are bigger difference between them, are yours as similar or is it just mine?

More holos from the archive (prepping my NCC nails so I can post them before this month end. lol) and this time Kismet from Color Club's Halo Hues Collection 2013. I have 2 coats on (as usual for this collection) and Kismet is a slightly yellow toned pale green, which shows especially much in the sunlight and shadow shot. Anyhow, I really like this holo, sure I wish it would have been as colorful as Eternal Beauty but we can't have it all, can we? ;)
This is also my contribution to Green Wednesday. ^^

A quick post between my job searching frenzy. Today I'm showing Color Club - Cherubic from their Halo Hues Collection. I'm not the most holo fanatic girl out there, but I'm SO happy that I have all 12 polishes. As all of the polishes in the collection they all are super holographic in literally all lights and the formula is awesome, they're pretty much one-coaters if you put a thick coat on, but I rather use 2 thin coats. They also stamp well.

Cherubic is like a taupe/beige color and is as the others just awesome. Below I've written down what type of light it has been while I have been photographing. And as you can see the color slightly "change", in the flourecent light I think it's more taupe (like gray toned beige), in natural light; beige or pinkish beige, in the warm sunlight it gets a more orange beige look. Love it <3

Here you see it in natural light, shadow with no external light source, and it is still pretty holograpic. The advantage seeing it like this too is that we're able to see the base color pretty well.

I knew that they weren't dupe's, but I thought they where similar, purple base and greenish color shift. I almost didn't buy Mars, because I thought it might be too similar. But when I compared them I saw that they where miles away from each other. What can we learn from this? Well, always buy polishes ;)

My index finger and ring finger are Miyo - Mars and my middle finger and little finger are Port-Folio. The pictures says it all but Color Club - Port-folio has a warm warm purple base towards a yellow toned green when shifting. And Miyo - Mars has a cold purple base towards teal. The color shifts in Port-Folio are also more visible.

What do you think? Comparing them like this Port-Folio is much more striking than Mars, but I still like them both.

Today I'm showing Color Club - Port-Folio from the In True Fashion Collection from 2012. This polish has a warm purple base and is duochrome towards green (a green towards yellow). The effect is beautiful and I love it. It also covers in two coats. So if you haven't this and are in need of a great duochrome polish, what are you waiting for? ^^ And yea, sorry in advance for the picture spam ;)

Easy Sideswipe Nail Art Tutorial by @chalkboardnails
Who's up for a super quick and easy nail art tutorial? This look is a variation on the distressed nail art tutorial that you may have seen around these parts before. I changed the direction, added a bit of negative space, and made it matte. Easy, easy, easy. Perfect for the gal on the go. Hit the jump to check out the tutorial and see this technique in action.

Easy Sideswipe Nail Art Tutorial by @chalkboardnails

For this look, I used:
Color Club - Je Ne Sais Quoi
Essie - Too Taboo
Julie G - Cabana Boy
Glisten and Glow - HK Girl Topcoat
Essie - Matte About You Topcoat
Kolinsky 777 French/round brush
Pure acetone

If you don't have a round brush, give it a go with whatever clean up brush you have handy! Of course, if you'd rather, you can always go for the classic hole-punch-reinforcement-as-half-moon-stencil method, too.

Mix things up by grabbing different color combinations, skipping the matte topcoat, or using a nail vinyl as your negative space stencil. The possibilities! Share your versions with me on Instagram by tagging @chalkboardnails and hashtagging #hellochalkboardnails.

This month in the Nail Challenge Collaborative the theme is wallpaper and at first I was a bit "meh" about it, but then I got super excited when I realized the options of it. My thought span was from computer's wallpaper to the actual wallpaper and then I decided to narrow it down further and do a tiny history lesson of it. Wallpaper is part of interior design and during the century different trends have been standing out. As you know NCC only have 4 designs so I've narrowed it down to that so there will be some jumps in the decades. Also I would like to point out that there isn't any right's or wrong's here, just because I choose one color combo that wont mean that there weren't any other and also the color trends might have occurred during different times/decades in different places over the world. And on top of that a lot of people use to stick with an interior design of a specific time for decades, like at my grandparents place it was a lot of 60s stuff also in the 90s.

My first wallpaper nail art is some kind of early 21st century nail art, like from late 90s to 2010ish. And there has been a super white era during this time talking about interior design. In Sweden (at least) there has been a hype (which is slowly fading out) to paint (or buy) literally every item in your home to white, with some few tiny details in other materials or colors, like silvery metal/glass or occasional white glazed wood. It's a feminine rural style, sometime shabby chic.. Also don't forget about the large wooden letters on the wall saying "love" or "family".. Today I can mention that this white+silvery has changed to white+copper or white+brass for the trendy ones.

Source 1 (living/bath room), Source 2 (wallpaper), Source 3 (kitchen)
So.. onto the nail art, in an aim to keep to whole interior of a home white, there still has been some patterns on the wallpaper, like subtle metallic patterns. Here I chose a white base and then stamped a holographic pattern using Color Club - Harp On It with the Born Pretty Store Stamping plate QA88. An image plate I won from MoreNailpolish. :) Stamping with CC was awesome, worked great and the holo was visible, but subtle due to the thin lines and I must say this was one which looked better IRL. It was hard to photograph, if it got dizzy or too light the pattern doesn't show, but at least you get the vision. I also added some pearl rhinestones to fit the romantic and feminine style.

Sunlight so here you can see some of the holo in the stamping.

Polishes and materials used:
Color Club - Harp On It
Nordic Cap - NP13
Squishy XL stamper from eBay
Born Pretty Store Image Plate QA88

This is the image plate I won at MoreNailpolish. (lol, I just had to take the photo after the stamping) and I must say it worked great, sharp pattern and easy to pick up. I can recommend it and if you decide to get it from BPS I have my 10% discount code for you to use; NGL91.

An InLinkz Link-up

So, do you recognize this interior design/wallpaper trend from where you're from? Do you like it the "white trend" or do you prefer other colors/combos in your home? Tell me. Also what do you think about the subtle stamping? :)
