Pink and gold Rococo nails by @chalkboardnails

Today’s “metallic” nails for the challenge are very unlike my usual personal style. It was nice to step outside my box though, as I was super happy with the way these turned out! Girly and fun and kind of rococo-esque, don’t you think?

My pink base is American Apparel Coney Island. I haven’t used an AA polish in a really long time… I always forget how great they are. Their colors are lovely and the formula is really nice.

The frame embellishments on my pointer and pinky are from a grab bag I ordered at Ocean Nail Supply. I can’t remember where I got the brass studs from, but I imagine you could find something similar from ONS or a site like Daily Charme.

I chose one of my favorite gold polishes for the accents: China Glaze Goldie But Goodie. I like the complexity of it — it has these gorgeous flecks and a sort of coarse visual finish to it. I used nail vinyls from Love, Angeline for the pattern on the middle and ring fingers.

More metallic manicures:
Today's nails is a simple stamping but I'm still happy with it. Still not perfect, I notice that the free edge of the nail is the hardest place to get the pattern on for me, when I had shorter nails, like 3MM shorter, it was way easier to stamp tbh. Today's 31dc theme is "metallic nails" and I decided to use a duochrome/multichrome base'll take more about in a future post.  I'm not sure if a chrome polish finish counts as "metallic" but here goes, also I could perhaps claim that a gear or sprocket is made out of metal.

Here's the base polish and wow how much I liked it! I love when polishes looks even better on the nail than in the bottle. I will as I said above make a swatch post of this Rival de Loop polish after the 31dc.

This and below is just bonus pics of the manicure in a different light and therefor more purple to blue looking.

Encircled black and white nail art by @chalkboardnails

Black and White day of the 31 Day Challenge is always my favorite, because everyone’s nail art always looks so striking. There’s something just so magnetic about black and white as a pair, isn’t there?

I didn’t have any particular inspiration for this nail art, but I did know that I wanted to do white patterning on a black base. I started out with two coats of Orly Liquid Vinyl, and then used my trimmed town super skinny striper brush to add on some arcs and circles with Formula X White Matter. Thin lines were a priority for me this time, so if my white lines got too fat in any areas, I went back in with black and thinned them down.

I added a coat of quick dry glossy topcoat, let it set, and then finished the manicure with a layer of Nicole by OPI Matte Topcoat. If you’re ever doing a matte topcoat, I recommend going glossy first to seal in your nail art, flatten the profile, and provide durability.

More black and white nail art:
Today it's the black and white theme for 31 day challenge, a theme which is a favorite of mine. I also choose to combine this for the pet theme in the Nail Challenge Collaborative. In my mind I see this as cat paws or dog paws. I wanted to make it quite clean and abstract so I did free hand paws in a straight line rather than "swirly". Also did a reverse accent nail on each hand. :)

Orchid petal inspired nail art by @chalkboardnails

It’s “violet” day in the 31 Day Challenge! I decided to do nail art inspired by some gorgeous orchids that I spotted in our local grocery store. The pattern on the petals was so compelling that I just had to snap a pic of them to use for future nail art.

This was maybe the easiest nail art in the world, and I love how it turned out. I started with a cream colored base, and then used a large dotter to add the magenta patterning. I grabbed a smaller dotter and added purple to the pattern, inside of the larger dots. Then all that was left was to finish with topcoat!

More 31 Day Challenge violet manicures:
Day 6 in the 31dc2015 and it's violet nails. However I guess violet or purple doesn't matter. I got a fun stamping idea that felt good for purple (so yes, this is something as unusual as a NOTD). I used my stamping plate from Born Pretty Store which I got for review and has talked about HERE before. I feel very happy that stamping has started to get simpler, and you who has followed me for long know that I've struggled before. I think I've reach a huge improvement this year, and I'm aware that all nails aren't perfect but I think that each time gets better and better at least. :)

I started with a violet base and then stamped the full pattern on each of my nails except one accent. On my accent I picked up the pattern as usual but removed all pencils except one from the stamper and then stamped that in the middle of my nail. After everything was dry I used a Promarker pencil and filled in some color inside the pencils and also made the colored parts on my accent. Really happy how this turned out. :)

"Something Blue" engagement nail art by @chalkboardnails

Just a quick post from me today for the 31 Day Challenge "Blue" prompt because... I'M ENGAGED! My longtime boyfriend popped the question this morning, and I didn't want to spend a bunch of time on detailed nail art when we could be celebrating. So here's my quick engagement themed nail look, do you think this would qualify as my "something blue"? :)
