Freehand dragon scale nail art by @chalkboardnails
There are some new polishes on the block and they are gor-geous! You may have tried ultrachrome flakies, but you haven't lived till you've tried them infused with platinum-silver reflective flakes. Indie brand Chloe & Bella has two variations on this formula, inspired by Dragon's Skin Ammolite and Dragon's Breath Opals. I've created some nail art with both lacquers, as well as swatched them individually for your viewing pleasure.

Seeing as both lacquers were inspired by dragon-related gems, it was only natural that I created a dragon scale pattern for my nail art!

I began by creating a full coverage gradient as my base. I've got Dragon's Skin closest to my cuticles, and Dragon's Breath on my free edge.

Then, I grabbed Chloe & Bella's black nail polish, Black Out. I painted black dragon scales, one by one, beginning at the cuticle and working my way to the tips.

While I'll never say no to nail art, these polishes can definitely stand on their own, as well.

Here is three coats of Dragon's Breath. You an see the ultra chrome flakies shift from pink to purple to gold to olive, while the silver flakes shine throughout. This polish is completely smooth and sits flat on the nail (I'm not even wearing topcoat here)!

Dragon's Skin tells the same tale: three easy, smooth coats. This one shifts from copper to gold to green.

So, I'm dying to know - are these your jam? Cause I sure enjoyed playing with them! Dragon's Breath has particularly captivated me. Swoon city.

These two shades are available from Chloe & Bella for $11.95 per polish. You can also keep up with the brand on Facebook and Instagram for more information.

P.S. If you are into bottle porn, be sure to check out the Chloe & Bella website, and if you wanna see more, check out additional swatches via Allie's Blog.

I Love Nail Polish Ultra Chrome Flakies Collection via @chalkboardnails
If you're a part of the nail polish community, no doubt you've heard and seen all of the hype around the I Love Nail Polish Ultra Chrome Flakies collection! Not only are these polishes stunning, but they come in a wide range of colors to satisfy all of your flakie needs.

All swatches show one coat of the flakie over a black base. Be sure to look towards the edges of my nails to check out some of the more dramatic color shifts, as I've shot my nails at an angle to show as much of the multichromatic effect in one photo as possible. I've also tried to arrange my pictures in color order, so you can easily compare some of the more similar shades. Happy viewing!

The flakies are metallic instead of translucent, which means that they don't require a black/dark base to show off their colors, unlike other flakies you may be used to. Another effect of the metallic flakies is that on the nail, the flakies can look dark until they catch the light.

They apply smoothly and evenly, and sit flat on the nail. They are not hungry for multiple coats of topcoat like a glitter would be. They remove easily with regular nail polish remover (no foil method necessary).

My favorites are Neon Rosebud, Brilliance, and Metropolis.

Here are some additional swatch resources:
More Nail Polish shows Neon Rosebud sponged on for full coverage.
Coewless Polish shows Luna over a white base to demonstrate the opacity of the flakies.

Glam Polish Welcome to Storybrooke Collection via @chalkboardnails

Glam Polish has a new collection out, Welcome to Storybrooke, inspired by ABC's TV show 'Once Upon a Time'. I personally watch and enjoy the show; not only am I a sucker for fairy tales slash anything Disney related, but there's lots of good eye candy for both ladies and the fellas. Speaking of eye candy, let's take a look at these Glam Polish shades!

Hat Trick is a multichrome holographic that shifts from a pink-rose to copper to green. I've chosen to layer my swatch over black, because that's how I would wear it out into the world.

The Thing You Love Most is a multichrome holographic that shifts from violet to pink to orange. Again, I've layered one coat over black for my swatches to amp up the multichromatic effect.

A Land Without Magic is a teal-leaning emerald green holographic with iridescent microglitter and shimmer. I used two coats.

Desperate Souls is a deep, blackened purple with a holographic finish. It has a pretty green shimmer to it that shifts to a warm pink when seen at an angle, though unfortunately I had a tough time capturing it in my photos. Two coats.

Fruit of the Poisonous Tree is a deep, plum colored holographic with a magenta shimmer to it. This is by far and away my favorite of the shades I received to swatch, which is not to say the others were bad! This one is just that good. It's fully gorgeous and luxe. Two coats.

Second Star to the Right is an indigo holographic with blue glass flecks (I called them "sparks" in my notes) that shift to pink/violet. It leans more purple in person; my second photo is most accurate. Two coats.

So, what do you think? My top picks are Fruit of the Poisonous Tree, A Land Without Magic, and Hat Trick. All of the shades had great formulas, and dazzled with their complex finishes. No duds here, it all comes down to your personal color preference.

The Welcome to Storybrooke collection is available now from www.glampolish.com.au. Shipping rates to the USA are $7.95 for the first polish and $1.00 for each additional polish.

Hello! Today's post is massively picture heavy. It includes swatches of the six holographic multichrome polishes in the Enchanted Polish Imagine Collection. Because these polishes are both holographic and multichromatic, I felt that they really needed multiple photos both at different angles and in different lighting.

Please hit the jump to check these beauties out (and if you use an RSS reader, I recommend viewing this post from my actual blog).

I've swatched each of these polishes as one coat over black. The first photo is sort of an "all around" representation of the polish. The three smaller photos that follow it are meant to demonstrate the multichromatic color changes, and the final photo is in direct lighting so you can see the holographic effects. The formula on all of these was the same; I had no trouble applying them, though on certain polishes I could see minimal evidence of brush strokes.

Please click the photos to enlarge.

Across the Universe begins with a deep cold blue color and transitions from purple to pink.

Hey Jude goes from a brilliant green to a cool dusty teal. This is one of my favorites from this collection. The green is such a lovely shade and is really pigmented and bright.

I Am the Walrus is also one of my top picks from this set. It goes from a lovely burgundy to a warm gold. The colors are just so rich... they are hard to resist!

Magical Mystery Tour is similar to Across the Universe. The main differences begin with the starter color -- ATU has a blue base while Magical Mystery Tour seems more teal. The color change in Magical Mystery Tour also appears to go a bit further, reaching the warm pink/gold shades a bit faster and at less of an extreme angle.

Mean Mr. Mustard changes from a warm, green-toned gold color to a dusty cool green. This is the closest one in the collection to a Chanel Peridot type shade.

Octopus's Garden shifts from purple to pink to warm rose.

Overall, what's not to love? There's something for everyone, whether you like holos or multichromes (and I feel like at least one of those will appeal to everyone!). The great thing about these polishes is that the holographic effect doesn't grey out the multichromatic base, so you don't need to be in direct sunlight to enjoy them. Which ones are your favorite?

Enchanted Polish is sold on www.enchantedpolish.com and is stocked on Llarowe, Pshiiit Boutique, Harlow & Co, and Mei Mei's Signatures. Chelsea from Enchanted Polish expects the polishes to be fully restocked "soon" on these stockists' websites. You can also keep up with the brand on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
