31DC2015 - Day 1; red - Red 'kiss me' skittelette nail art

Finally the first day of the 31 day challenge! I've missed this challenge a lot and last September I didn't have time for it. To be able to make the challenge this September I've decided to use partial of posts from my unpublished archive to be able to fill every day. Because of changing apartments and stuff I atm got like 5 polishes left to play with which means I have to buy some more in the end of this challenge (ooh poor me, right? ;) ) so I hope you don't mind that. :)

But here goes Day 1 - Red which I've chosen to call Red skittelette nail art. This one took quite some work. I was at the time I did this one very unsure of stamping and decided to make the text out of decals, which I figured I could cut out and place. That turned out horrible, I used SV for my decals and they got too thick and hard so I built up some curage and stamped the text directly on the nail, and wow, not too bad for a beginner imho. XD I also placed some rhinestones on my accent nail and did a gradient. I really like this combo and wouldn't mind recreating it in this color of even another color. Hope you like it! :)

Promarker nail art

I guess most people have seen promarker nail art, sharpie nail art and well any alcohol based pencil nail art. Since I'm a fan of Promarkers, I decided to try. Sadly I don't know where to get 75%+ alcohol in germany (like isoprophanol) but I knew regular polish remover might work and I was too curious to wait. It didn't work perfect (alcohol is probably more forgiving) but I still kinda liked it. Since it was my first time I decided to just make a skittelette and try many colors in one go. My favorites where definitely my gray thumb (right hand) and my red and black little finger (left hand). What do you think? Have you tried the technique?

NCC presents: black & silver skittelette with dotticure snowflake

Another post in the Nail Challenge Collaborative, this time #dots 3. As it is a skittelette it's a lot of things going on, glitter gradients, needle dragging and some kind of square pattern and the "star" of the nail art; the dotticure snowflake. Not so happy with my ring finger, feels like I could have composed this better.. I really like the snow flake, a simple way to make a cool nail art. Hope you like it anyhow. :)

Black and red snowflake nail art

Second theme for WinterNAC is snow/snowflakes. I wanted to make it a bit untraditional and edgy, and my choice fell on a black and red skittelette with my favorite studs and then accent nails with stamped snowflakes. The image plate is AT09 and I bought it at ebay for probably 2 years ago, but I haven't used it before. Really happy with this. :)

Black and white skittelette

Nail Art Sunday at Lelack and today's theme is "skittelette". When I first heard about the "new thing" (a couple of months ago) and learned what it was I was a bit surprised, because it was something old but just with a new fancy name, the old accent nail(s) was re-vamped. But with that said, I love manicures with accent nails and skittelettes has become a trend which means many people does it, which means that I have an easier access to nail art I like. I don't like all skittelettes out there though, a few are too incohesive. With that in mind I decided to color match my skittelette to make it super-cohesive. I think I'm quite happy with the result, it's black and white, and that always work even though I still wonder if it wouldn't have been better with black creme nails.

The rules of a skittelette apparently are to have two accent nails with some sort of decoration/design, one glitter or texture nail and two creme polished nails in any order even if the above seems to be the most common skittelette order.
