Spring is creeping closer!
Lately I find myself wanting to do lots of floral nail art. It just keeps happening! Not that I'm complaining; florals are cute and delicate, and I always enjoy wearing them. For today's look, I reached for shades from the China Glaze Avant Garden Collection. This nail art is well suited to the theme of the collection, anyway!
I chose Keep Calm, Paint On as the base for my manicure. This shimmery mint green was light enough to provide a non-distracting background for the flowers but still fit in nicely with the rest of the colors.
I painted the flowers using Fade Into Hue as the base and Fancy Pants as the petal spiral. Fancy Pants is one of my top picks from this collection. The color is really rich and vibrant and I enjoy the shimmer. Fade Into Hue is a nice shade as well, and it paired perfectly with Fancy Pants!
The leaves were painted using Budding Romance, a contradictory bright swampy green, and the filler dots were done in Sunday Funday, the bright blue.
I enjoyed this nail art -- I've never done a spiral floral like this before and I've also never mixed flowers in with polka dots. The combination gives it a bit of a vintage feel I think, though overall the print still retains modernity with the color combination.
In a random coincidence, Nory from Fierce Makeup and Nails posted a floral print this morning that looks pretty similar! I know that we both did them completely independently, so we just chalked it up to great minds thinking alike. :) Spring must really be in the air!
The China Glaze Avant Garden Collection is available now from salons and beauty retailers nationwide. Individual shades retail for $7; 6-piece collections retail for $42.
